About Watson Caring Science Institute (WCSI) The WSCI is an international non-profit organization that advances the philosophies, theories and practices of Human Caring/Caring Science for nurses and other caring led organizations. Its Founder is Dr Jean Watson
Focusing on research, education, practice, legacy and leadership, the institute aims to widen the development and understanding of Caring Science to dramatically transform patient/family experiences of caring and healing. WCSI is redefining quality of caring and healing environments, guided by a moral foundation of core values, philosophy, ethic and processes as a basis for change from within.
There are an estimated 400 hospitals in the U.S. in which their professional practice model is based on Watson's philosophy and theory of the science of human caring. Likewise, there are increasing numbers of academic programs based upon Watson Caring Science Curriculum.
WCSI institute has trained hundreds of Caritas Coaches®/Scholars/Leaders worldwide to translate human caring theory into concrete practice. These Caring Science colleagues influence around 300,000 nurses, who care for more than a million patients per year, in hospitals alone.
