The publication of the Ramsey County maps that highlighted the racial covenants written into housing deeds to ensure that people of color could not acquire properties in particular areas with these restrictive covenants took place on June 15th, 2022. Mapping Prejudice and Welcoming The Dear Neighbor? presented data and findings from the Ramsey Map. The night continued with small group discussions with the help of our facilitators, who kept the conversation going at the tables and online for our virtual audience. At our event, we told the stories of a couple of black citizens in Ramsey County before and after covenants were put into housing deeds. We discussed how segregation is not getting better but getting worse. The concept of upward mobility and consulted the newly presented maps with questions.
