Abstract: Introduction: Autistic adults are often faced with a significant decline in services once they age out of pediatric care, particularly in the area of sensory supports. Sensory processing challenges remain prominent into adulthood for most autistic adults, yet there is limited literature, resources, and supports dedicated to supporting these adults. Purpose: This capstone project aimed to increase staff knowledge and confidence at Minnesota Independence College and Community (MICC) by equipping them with sensory-based interventions and environmental modifications to better support autistic adults in their programs. Approach: A scoping review and needs assessment informed the development of a two-part sensory and environmental support guide and educational presentation. These resources were grounded in occupational therapy principles and aligned with MICC's mission to promote independence and increased quality of life for autistic adults. Outcome: Following the educational presentation, 22 staff members completed a retrospective pre-post survey. Results showed significant increases in both knowledge and confidence across six domains related to sensory processing and environmental modifications. Recommendation: This project highlights the critical need for ongoing sensory training in programs for autistic adults and the important role occupational therapy can play in postsecondary and community-based settings. Expanding access to sensory- informed environments, empowering autistic adults with self-regulation tools, and increasing public awareness are essential next steps. Conclusion: The capstone shows that focused, evidenced-based interventions can significantly improve support for autistic adults. With continued occupational therapy leadership and collaboration, programs like MICC can set the standard for inclusive sensory- informed care.
