Abstract: Addressing elementary school developmental skills is a primary area of assessment and intervention for school-based health centers/primary care. School based occupational therapists support students with difficulties in executive functioning and social emotional learning through interventions, teacher training, and parent support. In an effort to better meet these students’ needs, this program development doctoral project reviewed evidence in interactive group-based interventions which are considered essential for student engagement and translation of learning throughout life. Although school-based health centers are listed to support accessibility of healthcare services, address social determinants of health, and provide a multidisciplinary approach (School-Based Health Alliance, 2024) many of these sites lacked application of interactive interventions and occupational therapy. To fill this gap in school-based pediatric primary care at Bear Care Health Clinics, a database search for interventions that met these criteria was completed. This database search led to the creation of addition Tier 2 support through the Thrive Time Program focusing on executive functioning and social emotional learning skills.
